How to plant: Tarragon is a different type of herb. It is well behaved so it does not spread underground. Also, french tarragon (which is the kind that most peopel use) does not make it’s own seed and the only way to grow it is from cuttings. Russian tarragon does make seeds and has a weaker flavor.

- Buy a sprig or two of tarragon from the store. Make sure to ask what type of tarragon it is since sometimes it won’t be labled.
- Plant the sprigs in individual pots with soil that drains very well.
- Give the tarragon lots of sun, and light watering. It’s very hardy and can take a drought or two. Mulch it for winter. And during the summer, when it’s super hot outside, bring your plants inside. Tarragon doesn’t like high heat for too long.
- When it matures, do the same for 2-3 by GENTLY breaking off the tarragon by the mother plant via root and replanting.
Tips/Facts/Uses:
- Good for cooking, it has a nice flavor.
- It is said to stimulate the appetite.
- Leaves can be cut and dried before winter.
